Distracting Truths

Thanks to my wonderful beta Pam.

He usually ignored him.

Well he tried to ignore him.

Although his traitorous eyes couldn't help staring or seeking him out.

Although the boy did try his best to remain unnoticed. It was in his nature to stand out.

The ill fitting clothing only emphasized his slight size.

This brought to mind seeing those clothes on the floor.

Instead of the unkempt hair hiding his face it drew your attention to the eerily bright green eyes.

Those eyes should be shut tightly as he grabs on my bed clothes.

His tone was never disrespectful.

Even when the boy was angry he was still mindful of whom he was talking to.

The melodic quality of his voice lent itself well to showcasing his emotions.

The thought of the same voice moaning his name made him quiver slightly.

He acts grateful to have food to eat everyday.

He moves through these halls as if they are the only home he has ever known.

For this the Wizarding world were gladly laying themselves at his feet.

It galled him that the boy was such a contradiction in terms.

I disgust myself.

I know him better than I should.

My animosity towards him is real but not for the reasons he believes.

It's clear what his life is like outside these walls. After years of watching I know.

It angers me that my feelings betray me so easily. He is a weakness I can ill afford. For that reason I punish him.

If he despises me I am safer.

If he hates me then he is safer.

It seems all my posturing has done is bring the boy closer to me.

I blame the Gryffindor need to pursue the truth for that bit of irony.

Damn Gryffindors can't leave well enough alone; always needing, wanting, and demanding . . . to know the truth. (a/n - I will refrain from inserting obvious movie line here.)

He knows I'm hiding something. He just doesn't know what.

He can't leave it alone. Like a dried scab on an old cut he must pick at it until the cut opens again.

Every scratch brings him closer.

When the time comes I wonder if he will leave me to bleed in peace.
